I'm making my own cable stakes, and wondering the size cable to use 5/64? Plus who prefers to hammer the ferruls or use the swage crimping tool. Thanks

I just hammer mine because I haven't bought a swage crimping tool. Just be careful you don't hammer too far and break the cable. I use 3/32 and 1/8 cable.

I too just pound the double ferrules shut with a hammer, i'm too cheap to buy the swager. I use 3/32 and wolf fang anchor ends

3/32 with berkshire ends. I also swage instead of hammering them.

We used to hammer them until we found a cheap 20.00 swage tool at one of the conventions. I just lock one handle into a vice, then use it like a table top swage... Much quicker and alot easier on the ears...

That's what I did too with my fur money. Now I need to build a small bench for it ,so I can move it with no problem.
