I hunted almost every every morning and evening from the Oct. 1st bow opener till the end of late season and heard exactingly 2 coyotes on two different occasions. Tracks in the snow have been far and few between and many trappers who have caught good numbers in the past have had drastically reduced catches this year.
Probably just a local phenomena. This is along the eastern edge of Allegany State Park.
Anyone else seeing anything similar?
Oh yeah...way more red fox this year. They seem to be everywhere.

Must be nice!! I spoke with a gentlemen that puts up big k9 numbers every year and he said both fox and coyote numbers are extremely low around us. I have caught 83 k9 for the season and only six of those were coyotes but i worked my but off for every fox i caught. I found mostly small isolated pockets holding fox. Others areas that are excellent every year seemed to be absolutely vacant. I dont understand this myself but it is exactly how the other person described it as well. A normal season for him is apx 250 fox and 80 yotes he stopped at 70 fox because he just couldnt find anymore!!!!
