Hey Gents, will it hurt if I keep some Fox, Coyotes, fishers frozen whole till next year? Do I need to do anything to them? I put them in the freezer the morning they were caught. Running out of time to thaw, skin, flesh and stretch for sale this year. due to work sending me out of town for the next month!!
Will this damage or hurt the price I will get next year?
Thanx for any advise you guys can give!

Not sure about the fisher, but I do know k9 are prone to the bellies turning green if not skinned soon after they are caught frozen,or not.also when freezing whole carcasses for any length of time they can be a bear to skin as the the hide will be freeze dried to the parts of the carcass with little or no fat on it, These are just my exerinces and observation over time hope this helps.

Never left anything frozen whole for any length of time. There are others on here who can probably give you a more definitive answer. In my case I often freeze skins as there is only so many hours a day. Zip lock bag and get the air out. If I think I may need need to leave them for an extended period of time I now use a vacuum sealer and they seem to hold up pretty good for me. Anytime U freeze anything there is always the chance of guard hair breakage as they can get brittle and devalue some furs.

So I should get them thawed and skined. Then will skins keep in the freezer till next year? Or is there a later time in the year to sell. I don't see getting these furs put up till March. What to do? ?? Thanx fellas!!!!!!!!

The fisher needs to be sealed to be legal.

biggest problem you'll run into is freezer burn...like snoeblind mentioned skinning them then vaccum seal the skins is the best way to go if no time to put up, ,

Thaw and get them skinned before you go. Could always try and sell locally before you leave. Both NAFA and FA have spring auctions so that is an option. I'm in Saratoga County. If there's anything I can do to help send me A PM.

If you want to freeze them and wait until a later date to flesh and dry,on you're cased furs roll them up fur side out from nose to tail pay extra attention to flehie ares try to keep them tucked inside the fur to help protect it wrap them in plastic then old news paper two or three layers thick then wrap in plastic again as tight as possible this has worked for me in the past have kept furs this way until following season with no freezer burn, Best of luck
