MB-650,
(IF) you have any open water, try a mock Castor mound with only a few drops of beaver sack oil (and NO CASTOR),
OR, try some peeled aspen sticks along with some unpeeled ones with a baited set along the bank, and a drop of sack oil or some oil of bergamot.
Any castor or other lure is probably (obviously) making the wise ones shy away.
hope with helps.

We used to hang a peeled poplar stick from the trigger on a 330 in the water for those old smart beavers and it worked realy well

In my opion not much can be harder than trying to trap a trap wise beaver.Might as well pull all the types of sets that educated him as all they will do is let him know you and your traps are still around. If you can find one blind set location that is all I would set.It also might help if you pulled out of there for a few weeks and let the area cool off and return to normal and then set the blind spot if you have such a location.Opon returning if you do this, be as quit as posible and the beaver will still not have forgotten what traps are.

i dont trap beaver with conibears.......i use the duke 4x4......i make a castor mound first thing when i set a new pond.......now for your wise beaver........you need to blind set with footholds.......my second go to set is the dam crossover.......i set the south side of the crossover by making a shelf on the dam and then blend it with grass.......or you need to find where they are coming out of the water to take down trees or keep eating on a tree.......you should blind set them runs/slides just under waters edge at the bank......if you dont own enough to set each pull out set the ones that looked used the most or slick one up with water and a very little bit of mud to make it look used alot for eye appeal.......i dont use 330s because i feel that there are too many back outs because they have something in there face.......with a foothold they cant see it because its not in there face crowding them........dont take that casstor mound out either......dont change anything except putting in more traps......let him snap the trap again then he will think he is home free.......also those castor mounds will pick up rats lol
