Snow has been on the ground for 10 days.Just got done plodding around on 3 different farms about 5 miles apart. Not a fox or coyote track anywhere.Nothing other than crows around a month old roadkill deer in my woods..Took a snowmobile ride on the powerlines and checked out different places----no tracks anywhere. No locals hearing them at nite either.Anybody else seeing less coyote and fox sign right now ?

Mike, it's been rough going with the coyotes since the snow. I'm not far from you(Saratoga) but I have seen improvement over the past several days. If you know your in a good area with past sign just set the steel. If you wait for fresh sign with those yotes your done. Could be another two weeks before you get another crack. Most of the sign I'm seeing is not in the open. Woodlots, logging roads etc. Where they do venture into the open they seem to be cutting through and back to the woods. Around me they are also running the roads.

I have been going out on a daily basis behind my house to check for sign since the snow fell. Today was the first day that I found any sign of K9's. . .fresh fox tracks. Before the storm, the neighbors that knew I trapped talked to me about seeing a pack of 5 coyotes running around together. Haven't seen any sign from those buggers. .

Every sign I see now is 1 or a pair. Two weeks ago larger groups.

They have to hunt and eat eventually.I use to set my trail cam up on roadkill deer I would drag into my field.Would always have 3-5 different yotes per nite feeding on it.Now the one at the woods edge is covered with snow and just the crows picking at it.My area is always had a decent # of dogs.Back in september I was putting in some winter rye and had 5 of them running around the field picking mice as I disked and they would be within 40-50 feet of me.

Haven't seen much. Did have one travel a logging road of mine the last 2 nights. Seem to be in the woods not out in my 2 food plots where my sets are. I did put in a hay set today at a "T" in my logging road. Hopefully he will travel it tonight. Since the snow came around Christmas fields have shown no sign in my area, just woods and not a lot of sign.

It has been a strange year. Normally with lots more snow have animal movement all over my property... this year it's like like hitting a light switch... it's either sign every where or.... lights out, nothing.

been absolutely void of tracks but finally had my first set of tracks on my line this mornin, single yote, i got lazy and put a flat set with hay backing in (packed down snow, bedded trap then lightly covered with hay chaffe) and only cleared one side and set trap, little #$%$#$# dug thru the snow from back side to get the bait!!! (chunk of venison and a mouse on top) needless to say i reset and added 2 more traps to the set, hope hes a return customer!!

Hiking over to the far corner of my property where all the rabbits are with a couple of coyote traps and 2 mink traps for the swamp.Picked up a mink yesterday and sign of a couple more.Usually get 3-4 mink out of my swamp every year at spring holes baited with shellfish oil. Then on to packing up the mountain for the place I caught my 2 cats last year.
