Can't wait for spring auction to see the prices. And I do trap because it has consumed me and it's a addiction I can't get help for !! I am drug free don't drink . I spend time, money on good equipment . When I drive down the road in the summer I'm looking for locations !! When we go on vacation time us spent looking for soft wet spots that hold tracks .when snow comes I back track the k9 tracks to see where they came from and look at how they run and hunt in the snow. When we are fishing I save scraps for bait. Not to mention every store I go into that has hunting clothing I check to see if they have equipment and If I don't find anything I ask just in case. When my boy and I are out running the beagle he yells at me because I try to put her on fox tracks !!!
With that said I don't trap for the money. At this point not sure with my time or ground I have at this time I could make money. I have goals in place and reach them some years . I would trap fox for $2 average and still put them up right regardless the price. My job allows me to not trap for money it's my hobby and to me it's my sport. My son can show any grown man or child his own age his version of a dirt hole or flat set !!! He has no idea how to play video games because my kids have never owned such a mindless piece of equipment . So yes I pay my love of trapping forward to my children. And he two wants a big catch not a fur check. I love the sport not the money

Yes indeed always about the money. and high fur prices. not always. some of us try to strike up and maintain detailed, specific, engaging conversations about trapping in general. for various reasons that seldom pans out very long. so all that's left is talking about fur prices, commenting on catch pictures and various non-trapping topic discussions. for better or worse, that's the truth

I LIKE RUSTY!!! I have a great retirement and I live in the mountains most of the year whether it be the Adirondacks or Alaska. I trap because I want to. I really don't think I could live without it. I have a lot of rats this year and I got them through my hard work and perseverance. My hands ache at the end of the day from the cold water and skinning. I go to bed because I am tired. I still wake up like a little kid at Christmas during season with great anticipations for the day. If I have a off day, its all good because I am doing what I want to do. The money ? Its nice to get that check, but the memories are worth more.

There, in the back corner of the fur sale sits a down-trodden, sad-sack, cowering Zagman with his all if his coyotes and only 8 muskrats............wishing the Inversion Fairy would come down and change things around............ MZ

I for one hope that the prices on any of the furs do not go too high.Trapping would be in big trouble if all of the types of hunters and trappers that were drawn into it for the money and were not dedicated to the sport during the last fur boom ever got back into today.

The coon market for our midwest stuff is going to push 40 dollars imo. part of it is your coon are world-class quality... and I wonder how much the other part is farmers' "flybait" use on a nationwide basis reducing the overall coon populations?

Austin that stuff is so bad that I hate to even see it mentioned on the internet.I do supose that all of us including the houndsmen should be aware of it thow.Yes,It has been used on farms in NYS to kill coons along with anything else that drinks it when mixed with drinks we people drink ourselfs.Real bad stuff. If a farmer is convicted of using it in the way they set it out or to kill coons and other wildlife he could and should lose his right to buy or use pesticides.
