In my area not a lot of traps have been stolen but thieves are targeting mink sets near roads and were tough on fisher sets close to the road that guys had flagged. I had one fisher set hit that was only about 30 yards off the road right on a large game trail.Thankfully nothing like late 70s early 80s when it was common to lose a dozen or more traps in a day. These guys are grabbing the fur and leaving the traps.

Dear Mr. Ed, I was pretty fortunate this year. Had only 2 traps stolen this year. A 330, otter set in a culvert in a wilderness area. Took the trap, kb stabilizer cable and the 3 railroad plates it was cabled to. My fault for not getting back away from the road.....2nd trap was a #2 bridger with a definate catch circle....suckers cut the small tree down I had it cabled to with an axe or hactchet.........other than the annoyance of the usual wanna-be fisher trappers who are to d@mn lazy to scout there own locations setting on top of me....the season was fairly bountyfull. Regards

I have been fortunate over the last few years not having any traps stolen. Early season I don't set culverts and try to minimise the amount of traps I set on public land. I have recently put in a mink line and most trappers have pulled out so I do have a few culverts set, and when I do set culverts or areas close to the road I do expect to loose some traps, I haven't yet so I'll keep tempting fate. I have had some very good seasons over the last few years and all my traps have paid for themselves. I'd hate to loose even one but I feel fortunate to this point.

Haven't had any traps stolen yet but i did have one of my land owners help himself to a bobcat early on in the season. Fresh blood kicked around the catch circle fresh cat turds at the set and tire tracks down the 2 lane from his truck but he didn't see a thing

I can only believe that it will get worse once we get some snow down. Keep your fingers crossed.
