Stocking foot waders don't come with the boot so an extra cost .Really in salt marsh it becomes more of comfort and durability.Neoprene or rubber. Many prickly plant life in salt marsh .In my experience ,I destroyed my stocking foot neoprene waders last year in the salt marsh after having them for 6 yrs. I have yet to decide myself ,like the way neoprene hugs my body and stays out of the way ,but thinking a quality pair of rubber with good insulation might hold up.Always better when you don't have to worry about something getting in between your stocking foot and boot.

For trapping I would go with a good pair of boot foots. IMO. I believe the stocking foot with all the different optional boots are more for fishing. The different optional boots give you different traction for different water bottoms, ie rock, sand ect. And they take much much longer to get on and are more expensive. IMO the hardest choice is going to be if you get rubber or neoprene . Rubber are not breathable as the neoprene are which can be really important for comfort. If you are going to be doing a lot of walking and moving breathable waders come in real handy. I have taken off rubber waders and have been soaked like I had no waders on at all, from sweat! My personal opinion is insulated rubber and rubber waders are designed for duck hunters that sit motionless for hours. IMO of course . Oh, it's hard finding a good pair of neoprene boot foot waders as most neoprene waders are sold as stocking foot, but they are out there. Good luck !

Check out Ebay. I bought a pair of neoprene waders with attached boots there that needed a bit of zipper repair for 15 bucks. Use them all the time for trapping and if they get shredded, they only cost 15 bucks

Then the rubber.. If they will be on all day... Neos

I tried to get away with those cheap plastic type stocking foot( $10)at walmart then put my shredded neos over the top .Got about a week out of them before I was trying to avoid stepping in over my knees. Then went to just the cheap type and cheap boots .Well 4 pairs later I'm at the cost of rubber waders with boots.Get rubber with boots ,where you plan on trapping your going to be in them a short time .Then as you expand your line you will be traveling to a few different spots so on and off will be the norm.
