I spent a couple hours yesterday poking around a Lake Ontario Small Stream Tributary Estuary looking for some unexploited Muskrat sign and managed to set a dozen #160's in some Bank Den Holes showing some sign of recent traffic in and out of them. This morning was Cold and Frosty with a little skim ice but with fresh rat traps soaking, I was charged with a little bit of anticipation of a catch. I wasn't disappointed as the first two Bank Den Holes side by side held two nice winter rats. Below are shots of four of my five Rat catches today. v v Five for twelve is a good catch ratio for me, and my success led me to seek out and set some more Bank Den Holes on a different small stream Estuary connected to Lake Ontario adding another 14 #160's on that stretch. Tomorrow should yield a few more nice Winter Muskrat for the Truck to Toronto. Stay Tuned. walleyed

Nice job keeping up on those rats! Hope those new sets produce for you.
I've been happy catching 1 or 2 a night from these four sets I put in last week, pulled for the weekend and reset on Monday. They're nice size muskrats too and laden with fat!

you said months ago in here that rat trapping this year would be all about picking up small catches from small pocket populations. prophetic prognostication has come to pass
