Sunday I decided to put out a few K9 sets to check on way to work (put out 12 sets), picked up 3 reds so far on 4 checks....setting along an old railroad bed (crop changes off it) on the farm I trapped earlier. Takes 5-10 mins to drive thru unless I have a remake.......cold morning this AM;

A beauty and cold for sure. Just curious because I will be heading to our family hunting camp in Farmersville to put in a K-9/coon line Wed. the 19th. (First cold weather trapping) With the cold weather are you using peat, poly glycol, wax dirt, buckwheat hulls or a combination. I have all of the above. I have a set in my front yard that I am watching and have a combination of peat, then wax dirt, sifted with a line coating of the natural dirt. All layers sprayed with 50/50 PG and water. Kind of my learn and test set for cold weather. Seems a little over kill. We too have a dusting of snow in Colden. Thank you trappermac.

Ambow - I am using straight peat this time of year. I layer some CC flake into the set.

great job there mac. do you ever set on the railbed? I don't as there is some ATV traffic and the farmer uses it to access areas. Pretty soon it is a major snowmobile trail.
