I believe you may have gone just a little bit too big on that pan...just my opinion, but with a pan that big you run the risk of not having the paw centered when the trap fires. Additionally, if you plan to use those #2's on coyote as is, I believe you'll experience poor results in holding them.

Th old style victor #2s use to be great fox traps until the coyote showed up here. They arent built strong enough to hold coyote. Use them for mink, with the large pans, they will be perfect mink traps

Here's an old Vic #2 set-up for mink with an expanded pan Bigger isn't always better....ask Jim .....and as Jim referred, Clint has gone a little crazy with his big pan and big trap ideas

Those old vics and B&L no. 2 will hold fox and yotes but will need some serious mods. I use em. Baseplated, 4 coiled and laminated. Keep on experimenting, you'll find what works. That said.....I am not a big supporter of over-sized pans for K9s, especially in those older traps. You need that paw dead center. I've had several sets worked this year with no trap being fired. adjusted trap placement and connected the next day on all of them. If I had pinched them, they would not have returned for round 2. Just food for thought.

Well it depends on which forum you are on. This forum guys will tell you the truth. Other forums, they will tell you what you hope to hear. Personally, I would rather the truth from years of experience. . . other places blow a lot of smoke. .

Everyone has ideas and new things are discovered by experimentation and I guess you won't know unless you try it yourself......however, don't you think if these really worked well that somebody would be mass producing them
