I trap small drainage ditches in my area using only blind sets on holes, but i have recently aquired a swamp that has dozens of muskrat huts in it but have no real idea how to trap on open water... any help would be appeciated

Muskrat floats, pocket or blind sets on banks or dens going into the banks.

Any areas that show alot of cuttings you can make feed beds with footholds, find tight areas thru cattails and use 220 conibears, any bank runs setup-or wait till clear ice and mark runs then-any questions dont hesitate to pm me-pics would be helpfull as well. Mike B

There should be runs that are noticeable going through the thick vegatation. This is a good place to set conibear traps.

Well i went to the swamp today only to find out it was dry after further investagation i came across a beaver dam a quarter of a mile upstream, i got excited when i saw this hoping i would be able to trap it then i found out the farmer had trapped the beavers and was waiting for the ground to harden up to remove the dam, hopefully the swamp will be back to normal again next year! thanks for the help though!
