Debbie and I both recieved a letter from the DEC telling about ways to avoid catching birds and dogs etc. Well written and they say they will have a booth at the NYSTA convention. Ed

Yup, it's the same flyers that we had at the Rondy this year. Basically, Angie Berchelli from NYSTA along with some other JTI committe members made them up and at the last BOD meeting Gorden Batcherlor wanted to get them out.

Got the letter and flyers. There is some good info from NYSTA about avoiding birds and dog proofing bodygrips. I hope that trappers will use these techniques to help avoid non-target catches that will bring trapping under even more scrutiny from the un-informed general public. It seems, according to the letter, that the actions of a few trappers who refuse to follow rules and recommendations will affect the future of trapping for all trappers, even though trapping is a necessary, practical, and good tool used to properly manage wildlife. I wonder, what would happen to the automobile if this same type of thinking applied to all drivers ?
