Sounds like they have been trapped before and are probably square shy as well as avoising anything with castor...try using some sac oil or possibly peppermint or spearmint oil/extract rather than castor with footholds.

if there is still ice on wont move as much, also the females seem to stay in the lodges with the younger ones , wait them out if you can, patience is the key.

blind sets with footholds, at climb outs, with a breasting stick to drop their feet into steel, work for me on square shy's

I put some dead grass on top of the 330's, and try putting some fresh poplar branches in front of your set or just before shore line......worked for me.

Try a food lure and fresh peeled sticks... Or even try some rat lure.. Or just fresh shavings and sticks... That will catch their eye and they wont be carrying mud to add to the castor mound.

Call Walleye and make sure he didn't beat you to the spot ;D ;D I am At least 61 miles from the Rat's beavering spots, and there is not enough $4.00 a gallon gasoline in the tank of my to Silverado to spank the Rat's beavers. Besides, I'm not tangling with Chris at his spots as he would kick my backside. Perhaps I can hire the dwarf Beaver trapper to transport me by Goat Cart down to East Syracuse to help with these naughty beaver. Do they allow livestock driven conveyances on Interstate Route 81 ? walleyed
