Storing urine it is reccomended that you use glass as oppossed to plastic. My question is ; Why? Ed

I believe when urine is stored in plastic it actually starts to eat away at the plastic. I have seen urine in plastic that after the summer, the bottle was all sucked it and certainly had a different smell to it. I think the smell probaly didn't hve anything to do with the plastic though, just that urine odars change as it breaks down.

Mr. Mole- Basically the plastic has tiny pores and the ammonia from the urine will escape over time making it very flat and stale smelling. The glass more or less seals in all the good stuff and prevents it from escaping. If you are going to use it all during a trapping season I wouldn't worry too much but holding it over for the next season you would want to transfer to glass.

Thank You for Your responce, I just wondered why. I keep mine in brown glass. Some of my bottles are probably 80 Years old or more. They came from old dumps where loggin camps were. Ed
