Hello, I have some new Duke 1.75 traps here. They are off set and four coiled. The chain and swivel that are on them are being changed. Do you think that while I am at it that I should center swivel them or not. Thanks Ed

Ed good ???The only traps I have center swiveled are the ones that came that way.(Sterlings and Bridger) I believe it was in one of Russ Carmons books that he said he could see no advantage of the center swivel. I truely cant see an advantage either. But I do believe in swivels and lots of them.

personally i would say centerswivel. to me it may help stop the paw sliding back and forth in the jaws, possibly causing damage.

I would center swivel if your useing them for land sets, I would assume their for canines? I would use the weld on base plate also!

I really think it's more of a personal preference than anything else. I personally have both center swiveled and end swiveled, I had changed all my K-9 traps to center swiveling but had a few that I picked up just before the season a few years back and didn't have a chance to change over. I didn't see any difference in the holding power or paw damage between the two. Just my little slice of the trapping world but take it for what it's worth.
