I just finished it yesterday. It's hollow white pine.

Thanks Dale. I'd like to make at least a half dozen of them someday. But that will take me a while. My next few projects include replacing a broken bill on a friend's decoy, making a black duck for a friend, and helping my son make his first decoy (he chose a goldeneye) to use for his first season this fall. It'll probably be a few years before I have my brant spread. Luckily my friend down on Long Island has a dozen Sportplast brant that we hunt over. This wooden bird will be mixed in with that plastic spread this year.

Beautiful job, I would love to make a few to hunt over. Nothing feels as good as using things you have made in the field.

Thanks. You should try making one. Getting started isn't as complicated as most people think. And it is rewarding to hunt over them.
I entered this bird in a contest at the decoy show in Clayton last weekend. I didn't fare too well, but I had fun and am looking forward to trying again next year. Plus I picked up a spokeshave while I was there.
