Wow I have never even heard of this. Very cool! I don't have any sound so you may have answered this question in the video, but are you using the tire as a drag or is the trap staked?
Thanks

The trap is chained to the tire.

This set used to be on the Flockmasters website but it is now gone.
It is used as a drag to answer your question. Something that's nice about it is if you make a catch you can move the whole tire, trap and all a few feet away and make another set.

Denny- Have you had a lot of success with this set? Do you place tires in advance? If you talked about this in thevideo, just let me know and when I get away from the hospital I will be at a computer with volume. Thanks

cool, i tried a couple of these sets last fall. didn;t have any luck myself, but not luck in my other sets either...lol a couple things i had done different is i chained my tire down as well w/ 15ft of cable, and had the trap centered in the tire. in your video it looks like it is more towards the back from the bait.
i chained the tire down because these were made in a fairly populated area and didn't want a coyote to drag and get caught up somewhere noticable.
i also covered the traps with straw that was laying out in the field instead of trying to cover with dirt and such.
next year maybe i'll get a chance to try it your way. maybe have better luck...lol

Interesting set idea. Have you ever tried cutting the tire into a U shape and trying to get a K-9 to work it like a dirt hole? I have never been fond of setting where an animal has something to stand on to observe a set before they commit to it. Tracks in the snow have shown me that I like how you have used the cow pie peaces and the little stick to show the pan, I prefer to put the sticks in on an angle jabbed into the ground so they don't get moved into the trap by a rodent. K-9's can take a lot of fencing ;D

I never even thought of cutting one in half. Do you think they would feel boxed in from the sides coming around? Or make the set at the edge of one of the cut edges instead of the middle? Hmmm, something to ponder.
