Haven't been out quite yet but I heard they are catching 30"+ Pike on silver (along with a lot of dink gills and perch) at the south end. Chautaqua is hit or miss and the with the snow and slush, its rough conditions. Conesus is just starting to get fished with slow starts. Guys are picking some fish up at honeoye, nice gills and perch, the occasional walleye and a lot of bass as usual. That is probably your best bet, but it looks like a long drive for you. If you hitting the hard water, remember the ice is new and still not completely formed in some spots on certain lakes. Keep warm everyone!

Wilson Harbor near the state park can be fun for trout, (ocassional) pike and perch. Use caution near the boat launch, sometimes the ice is thinner there. Check out Bill Hilts' Fish Finder report on Niagara Outdoors. He's covering most of the WNY waters. Here's the web address; it's updated each week. www.niagarariveranglers.com/weekly.htmHere's the link for the DEC website covering the finger lakes area. www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/9218.html

Cazenovia lake has some soft spots. My son found out the hard way. We went from 10" of ice to nothing but slush within 20' of walking.

My sons were hoping to go ice fishing tomorrow morning. Does anyone have any reports on ice thickness and fishing on Honeyeye, Silver or Conesus lakes from the last couple of days? Ice on ponds along the Thruway didn't look too good yesterday!

The boys fished the south end of Silver Lake today. They were in about 8-10 feet of water. Everyone in their group caught many sunfish/ bluegills on wax worms - no perch. Most fish were very small and they brought home only about a half-dozen keepers for a full day of fishing. They saw a few good pike through the ice and caught by other fishermen. Ice was about 7" thick and just a little snow cover. Several others on the ice - all doing about the same.

The boys fished Honoeye Lake today. They did better there than at Silver Lake but not great. Caught a lot of perch but not many keepers. Fished in about 8-12 feet of water near the state boat launch. Some 'HOT' holes resulted in better catches, which is normal for ice fishing I guess.

Nice pike and perch...tasty Went Saturday to Sandy Pond. Kept 43 perch released one northern. Took the Grandkids Sunday to the pond, wow quite windy. Just let them catch a few small perch and left, but we had a good time. First time ice fishing for them. I think they're hooked.

My dad (hunt6246) has been on here updating my brothers and my fishing adventures for us but it is my turn. Went to Silver lake last week brought 20 sunnies home nothing huge, broke off on a pike and lost another. Fishing was good all day but mostly small ones. This morning we went to Wilson Harbor and fished for 2 hours got 5-6 bites a piece, real soft ones at best, brought home the one and only fish we caught, 9" perch.
We heard someone limited out on keeper perch on Conesus using minnows just recently.
My brother and I are looking to try Chautauqua but dont know where to go at all, I was wondering if we could get some help, maybe parking areas and depths to try for perch and bluegills/sunnies.

If you want to get a mixed bag of perch/bluegills on Chautauqua, your best bet is to try right in Mayville. There are parking areas right across from the gas station (Red Apple I believe). You will catch your share of smaller perch, but usually 1 in every 10 is a keeper. There are a good population of gills there too if you can get on them, my experience has been that gills hit best in the late afternoon just before evening. Hope this helps!
