Trying to make sets under ice. Here's the problem, cut four test holes to set both 330's and pole sets with #3cs and nibble sticks and found about two feet of water and a bunch of branches below the eight inches of ice. Should we wait until feed piles dwindle down or is there another set to try? Thanks, Charlie Here's the lodge. The test holes are to the right of the lodge. Here is the test hole locations,

I'm not much of an under-ice beaver trapper, but I'd try to set between the lodge and feedpile first and if that isn't possible, near the dam as they still check it even under the ice.

The feed piles look to me as if they are to the right and left of the lodge in the second picture, that whole area is shallow and don't know of any type of trap setup for shallow water. I thought of the dam too but it's about 150 to 200 yards away from the lodge. With solid ice to and from, I didn't think they could get there without taking a breath. I'll scout the dam area for any activity and maybe pop in a couple sets.
Thanks...

Definitely go to the dam and set it up.... Ice all the way doesn't mean that there aren't air pockets, etc. You can catch beaver in bait sets in 2 foot of water, but all the branhces yu speak of will make it tougher for them to find your sets.. Beaver patrol their dams under ice, plus it'd be a great spot to pick up an otter cruising through... I'd try a couple bait sets around the perimeter of the feed pile, but be sure to stay 15 feet away from the house. Don't be afraid to set channels, if you can find them under the snow

Thanks Brandonh...
I'll definitely set the dam. I know where two channels are, one is shown in the first picture at the waterline below the tree that has been chewed and is leaning. If I can get over there I'll set a 330, this pond is spring fed and that area froze up last.
