I saw these on another forum, and I thought I'd make some and give em a try. My willing assistant Completed. The cross piece is 22 ", the vertical piece is 20" with a hole every 2" to adjust for height. How the trap connects. The square piece is 3"x3". The trap is a 110, but I may try this with some 160s too. Folded up for travel. To set, simply chop a hole in the ice in a good location (suspected run, 5+ feet from a house, etc.), Bait the trigger, and lower into the hole so the trap is a little below the ice. The crosspiece keeps it from falling throught the hole. I haven't tried them yet, but I will get them out this week.

Cool! Thanks for posting it. The pictures do help. Looks like it would make a quick and simple set. I saw this set and others at this link: www.michiganbear.com/forum/showthread.php?t=203662Just wondering, does it matter that the trap is not "stabilized" in the sense that it can pivot on the spring? Also, the guy who described this set on that other link suggested turning the trap 90 degrees after the spring had been clamped down, so that the trigger wires pointed up. Any thoughts? Do you want the trap to be just under the ice or a little deeper?

Nice idea! My luck though, I'd have a dozen out and an ECO would fine me for having more than 5 tip-ups out........... ;D
