I was out archery hunting this past weekend. Watched several does and yearlings walk by, then a grey fox appeared and ran out in the open about 40 yards in front of me. I tried a quick lip squeak to get it to stop, but it ran into my goldenrod field. I then pulled out my Verminator Tweety call and started blowing. I don't know how I missed it, but before I knew it the grey was charging hard at 30 yards. I had my location pegged and I was hunting on the ground. It stopped at 4 yards, broadside, then figured out something was wrong and bolted before I could draw my bow.
So, the question is, what do you do when they come in real close, especially when hunting with a shotgun? Do you shoot anyways, shoot high/low, let it walk back into reasonable range, scare it to run a distance away? I want to be prepared once the bow gets hung up and the predator call comes out. Thanks.

I shoot them wherever I get an open shot, i've shot them at 6 yards out to 60 yards with a shotgun. I use the dead Coyote choke tube and rounds.. Although, this year, my shooting stinks, i've missed twice so far and they were chip shots........
