Great photos! What's the secret to catching gar? Are you sight fishing?

yea, we always sight fish for them. hot days with little to no wind are best, we just keep looking for them to break surface. once we locate a school, we try different depths and retrieves to get strikes. they are a fun fish, if more people tried it, they would become addicted instantly! bright colored rope flies in white and yellow work best

Thanks for the tips. I know a few folks stalk them on the north end of Cayuga sight fishing.
