My Brother in Law called me today. Said that something got into my nieces chicken coupe today and killed 8 chickens. It bit the heads off!, then stacked the carcasses in a pile? I told him It sounds like a Weasel to me? I don't have 1st hand experience with weasels but have heard of this kind of thing happening. My brother in Law asked if it might be a possum; I told him that the possum probably would've caught one and ate it, instead of killing a bunch of em and just leaving them there??
I put a couple rat traps near the coupe with chicken livers on em' Hoping to catch it before it does anymore damage...

Why would you guess it to be a coon? Maybe I'll throw the Big Havaheart trap near the coupe also...
Probably should mention that this coupe is inside of a Barn. Whatever it is that is killing the chickens is legal to trap. I've checked with ECO dept. on this issue before.

Coons are notorious for taking off just the heads of chickens. If it were a weasel, all the heads wouldn't have been eaten, they just aren't big enough to eat all of them.

Yeah my neighbor had a coon pull here chickens through some poultry netting and bit of their heads. Left the bodies just hanging there in the fence

I know a guy who raised peacocks.
He kept them in an enclosed area with chain link fencing like you would using for a business.
A fisher figured out how to get in and killed every one. I remember him saying something about the heads. Can't remember if they ate the heads or just sucked the blood out.
