A friend showed me this set many years ago. He called it the Swinging Suzy Set. Where my hands are there would be another stick that would span the hole in the ice. I also have a piece of stiff wire sticking up with a piece of flagging tape much like a tip up flag so that if you get a large snow fall you can find your set a little easier. BTW, note the use of "Adirondack Aspen" LOL also known as striped maple for bait. Works in a pinch if there isn't any poplar around

On this set do you half to find there channals or can you go near there loge or den and make this set

Best place to make this is near the feedpile...make sure that you're at least 15 feet from the lodge and/or 15 feet from the dam if you're in a closed otter zone.

I took 3 beaver on this exact set Back in December after the first freeze up. If you can find the path they are using to and from the feeding bed it works perfect. NOTE: The main path they use you will be able to find by feeling the bottom with a stick, it will feel hard packed compared to the rest of the muddy bottom. then just drop your set right onto the runway.
