From Proboards.... Potential Server Slowdowns - Servers 52 and above « Thread Started on Sept 11, 2008, 7:38pm »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you may already be aware, we currently do regular backups of your forum data.
Due to Hurricane Ike heading towards Houston, we are taking precautionary measures with regards to your forum data, and are currently making an additional backup of all forum data in the Houston Data Centers.
As a result of this additional work load, forums may perform slightly slower than usual. Please do not worry if you forum is indeed going slower, it will only be for a short while.
With regards to the hurricane itself: This, as previously stated is merely a precautionary measure. The data centers are built to withstand winds higher than those currently being experienced and predicted for the hurricane.
If the surrounding area was to lose power, the data centers have over a weeks worth of fuel supplies, along with additional backup generators in case of primary failure.
Come tomorrow we will have more information on the exact path of the hurricane and will know more.
At this time however we do not believe there is anything to worry about, and even if there were issues, we can very quickly get forums back up and running from data centers in Dallas
