Hey looking to get with someone who can help me learn to trap I took the course but would like to have someone mentor or at least go with someone to learn the trade, I am 65 and live in Erie county, Tonawanda I'm a first year trapper license holder after having 29 years of hunting experience including 20 of them in NYS. Being on a field since 2019 season opening day I've faced with several questions I cannot find answers anywhere. Currently I'm looking for some sort of beaver trappers society or a mentor/ coach ( with NYS trappers only) to learn something that has not being explained in detailed while trapper certification course being taken. So far my target is beaver. There are so many details about how to set up a specific trap right, where and how deep in certain circumstances to set it I want to learn about. The problem is I cannot find such person anywhere close to NYC. Residing in NYC I've tried to find at least one experienced trapper to take a master class on a field but found no one. Looks like city boys are mostly busy with money making problems. Could you recommend me to contact those with experience willing to share their knowledge and may be agree to take "a student" on a 2-days trip Upstate NY. I'm 54.
