Any fish pictures??? I'm headed up to my favorite ponds at the end of the month. I'm hoping my trip coincides with the hexigenia hatch. I know a pond that the big rainbows disappeared from but last season it seemed to have a growing population of brookies. 2008 has been a very tough year so far, and I can't wait to get there to unwind for a week.

Hope you catch some nice fish when you get to go Hunt6246. It sure does have a way of winding one down into low gear up there.

Issiah,
Congratulations on your lakers - they're all nice looking fish. I hope you have many repeat trips with similar success. The Adirondaks are such a special place. Every time you can get there is a new experience.
I can't wait to go on our family trip. I just got my knee replaced on May 5. Had some complications and didn't get out of the rehab facilitiy until June 6. Still going to the drive-in rehab place and still off of work. Got the fly line finally wound onto the new real I bought at LL Bean's in April and started up again tying flies for the trip just today. The wound & stiches are healing up good, but I'd really would like to get the new leg working better though before the trip - still on crutches right now.
Have a good summer. If we get some brookies, I'll post their pictures.

Hi all, Just got back from our Adirondack trip. Fishing was good - not great. No bass or pike, panfishing was a little slow too.
Bug hatches were pretty sparse - except for the mosquitos. My one son and I got 38 Brookies and Rainbows (8-16") for 6 evenings of fishing, including windy and stormy nights. We saw green drakes, hexagenia and potathamus mayflies hatching on the pond. Mayflies were all over the outside wall at Aubachon hardware in Tupper Lake on the 3rd. We caught all but one of the fish on dry flies (size 6-10 comparaduns), one was on a hexagenia nymph. Just had fun being together. Only kept two fish for dinner and to remember the trip by. Sorry no photos of fish. My wife got some sunset photos - we'll see how those came out and will post them if they're good.

Took alot of fish on just Plain Stickbaits so far. Things slowed down on a trip last week and I threw on just a set of those Verticle Hammerhead Cowbells that go above the ball, with a flatfish fished a few feet behind. Picked up two; one right after the other. The Stickbaits have been so hot, that, I haven't experimented with much else so far this year...

Got to thinking today that I should probably add in this thread that, right now the Lake Trout in the Dacks are being forced into deeper water due to rising water temps. I find them to be very vulnerable when this happens for the 1st time each year. Wanted to be fair to the "Where's the Bite" title these fishing threads fall under on this site...

Got back from our week long trip to the Adirondacks this past Saturday. We didn't hit the Hexagenia hatch this year and trout fishing was poor on the pond. (No bait allowed.) We only caught a little over a dozen fish on flies in the evening for the entire week.
Perch and Sunfish are usually small, but this year were really good sized though not as many where we fished.
It was a cool week with only two days above 70 degrees - nights in the high 40's & low 50's. Mosquitos were fierce; you could hear them humming there were so many. Deer flies got my wife good. Didn't see any blackflies left over.

Fished between Tupper and Saranac along RT 30 between Wawbeek and the Paul Smith's turnoff. Caught a mix of rainbows and brookies. I didn't fish Horseshoe pond but we were told that it had been hot lately. Black Pond near Fish Creek must have had some action because there were 1 or 2 cars parked there most of the time all week. Didn't get to check out the other Black pond near Paul Smith's. I haven't fished that pond in several years though. Where we fished, I've never seen a fish caught on anything but flies. I've tried jigs, spinners, plugs etc. and no luck. I have tried lead core line in mid summer and have caught some fish trolling with flies that way. Good luck if you get out.
