Guess I might as well jump on the bandwagon. One down, one to go..... Last Saturday, got this dude right at fly down........thus the picture is a little DARK.....guess I shoulda waited to take pics. Now Geffert will bust my chops for bad picture taking..... Had a hen with him, he shut up we he hit the ground, no doubt in full strut, but she was a mouthy little bitty, and like the text book says, I went right after her. She brought him right to me, strutting the whole way........6AM and it was over, but I was within 75 yards of the roost on the field edge, and it was raining slightly, and I'd hoped they'd come out to the field at first light. The bird was a limbhanger, but took that picture with my phone.....dont know how to upload it! 9 inch beard, 1 1/4th" spurs, sharp and hooked. 20 lbs, guts in. Later that same day, also caught my biggest beaver ever, on a nuisance job. 64 pounds on the button. So, see......this IS a trapping thread. Zagman

dude, when I see other hunters in the woods, I judge them by their hats.
If I see a guy with a hat like yours, well, I either think they are new to turkey hunting or really old. ;D
Now, if I see a tall, skinny guy wearing a beat-up, camo, low profile hat with a NASCAR number on it, I'm like: "Uh-oh, that boy's serious!"

Then I'd see myself, LOL!
Regarding spur length, which I envy more than beard length....
.....spurs are basically a lot of luck. I have taken a lot of longbeards, and my friends, die-hard turkey guys, call me "King of the Two-Year Olds".....which I am fine with.
If he has a full tail fan and beard, I am taking him. Heck, even at 5 feet, if the bird's facing you, you cannot see the spurs.
So while this bird I took is a good one, until I picked him up, I had no idea what his hooks looked like.
I just roosted two lone longbeards.....I have no idea how long thier spurs are. However, tomorrow, if either one messes up and I take him, then I will know exactly how long the spurs are. But right now, I'll be happy with either one.
