Any one been on the ice yet? Some friends of mine have been fishing Brandy Brook in waddington for about a week or so, been catching some nice fish! The St. Lawrence isn't froze over enough yet to be out on. At least here in Massena it isn't. Getting all my tip-up's ready this weekend. Can't wait!!

I have been into some perch down here. The ice is still creepy though. Largest perch being 13'', can't wait for the slobs and those big crappies!

This warm weather is not good for the ice making!! It'll be a while now before the big river freezes! Can't wait to start chasing flags!!

My uncles have been out on the St. Lawrence icefishing. They said there was only 2 inches of ice or so in the bay they were fishing. Thats not enough ice for me I'll tell ya that right now! But they were catching some nice jumbo channel perch and few walleyes had been biting. None that were big enough to keep. It's colder now and some of the bays have started to ice up in the past two days. Hopefully soon there will be enough ice!

2" of ice, WOW, you'd never catch me out on anything less than 4", even then, I'm not real comfortable.

I agree with you itrap! Nothing less than four inches. They said that their last tip up was only 30 yards from open water! No way!! Not for me!! But if this cold keeps up... (like now it's only 10 degrees here) In a week we will have enough ice.

I have been wanting to get out on the ice but with the warm spells longer than the cold spells I don't dare. I've heard some guy s here at work talk about getting some nice walleyes at hawkins point here in massena, and some nice perch at coles creek and also at hawkins point. I myself have not been yet. I don't trust the ice. Might not get to go at all this year! Oh well.
