The action is very good now on Lake George. Lake Trout and Salmon are near the surface and are gathering near the mouths of the tributary streams, looking for smelt. Large Lakers are being taken and although the salmon are far less numerous a few large fish have been taken as well. Also the crappies have turned on in the shallower bays.

Coonhunter92, Just saw your post. Ice Fishing is great! We just got good ice this past week. 5" to 8" in the bays, 4" to 5" on the main lake. Fisherman all over the lake yesterday, but I would be careful, especially getting on or off around bubblers near docks, and open water near pressure ridges.I caught my limit of perch yesterday in about 35' of water using Hali jig tipped with a couple of spikes. Lots of Lake Trout, and an ocassional pike or pickeral. I even caught a bullhead yesterday on a jig. The nice thing about Lake George perch is that there are no grubs in them.

Fished yesterday. Ice thickness is increasing. Wind has been awful all week, even with the portable shanty that I tow. Fished just outside Sawmill Bay at Bolton Landing. You have to find the fish, sometimes cutting several holes until you find them. Watch the other guys; if a guy is jigging and he stays there it's a pretty good indicator he's on fish. Fish are on the bottom feeding on the grass shrimp. Drop your jig to the bottom, take it back up a turn and a half and gently start jiggling. Good luck!

My Dad told me that they used to sink Christmas Trees, which attracted minnows, which in turn attracted crappies.
