Went out for an hour on opening day with my nephew. We have a small brook here on the farm with Brown Trout & Brook Trout. We lost one on a worm. The Small brook was at a nice fishable level. Some of the creeks I've seen around look a little high still. But fishable! Heard some guys got a few nice trout outta Saquoit creek along route 8 (South of utica). Good Luck coonhunter!! Your Uncle must be bummin' !! 20" is a beautiful Trout!

I went out opening day on Nine Mile in Camillus and caught 2 small ones about 6 inches. I threw them back and never caught another. alot of big fish 14-15 in being caught but the water was very muddy.
Day 2 I tried a smaller stream and caught 3. The biggest was 12 inches on a Mepps spinner.
Today well april 3rd I hooked into a few with the spinner but never landed any.
My next time out will be friday. Gonna try Scriba creek where I was trapping beavers. I saw one trout jump out when checking traps so I hope there is more.

Fishing's been good! Much bigger stocky brooks in Catt. and Chaut. this year. I pulled a 16" and 18" brookie from a lake in chaut. on Apr. 2. Also in just under 3 1/2 hours we caught just over 100 stockies in Catt. county on Apr. 3. This weather might mess em up though. I was in Chaut. county Apr. 5 we had 5" new snow with more on the way. Good luck tight lines!

The larger fish were hold overs. There arent to many stocked lakes in Catt. county - a little research and you'll see which ones I'm talking about. They should stock the 1 and 2 yr old browns this week. But as for the Brook stockies I've never seen fish that nice. The best where out of Allegany park.

Still catching brookies no browns stocked yet. Usually browns are put in this week. Most lakes will get approx. 2800 1yr olds and 300 2yr.

I got out for a few hours last week. I didn't catch anything. Decided it was time to stop when my flyline froze in my guides.

Fished a small Brook here in Northern Oneida County & caught a pair of Brown Trout; One was 9 inches & the other 12 inches...Both were caught on worms and in the Deeper Current. The Stream is so low & Clear now that it seems fish are using the current above their head as cover. Manage to spot some fresh Turkey tracks in an area I've spotted a nice Gobbler Struttin his stuff & Saw some interesting tracks on the receeded sand along the shorelines? Some look just like tiny human hand prints with longer fingers; I'm guessin' Coon or Possum. And another set of Prints were more rounded & left claw marks. Wish I took some pics of em' to see if anyone could Identify. Here's a quick shot of the two trout...

Nice brownies. The tracks sound like raccon and either mink or squirrel by your description, although depending in the size, they may be otter.
