If you are going to fish Oneida, make sure all your Coast Guard stuff, safety stuff, registrations, etc. are up to date. Opening day of bass is also prime time for the Troopers, DEC, Coast Guard, Sherrifs to hand out tickets...for stuff you never even heard of. We have been "routine checked" 3 times in the same day before. I got an unacceptable fire extinguisher ticket one year. New laws say NO BEER...they will be looking for it. There is also a law somewhere that says your anchor rope needs to be so long depending on the water depth. They like to give tickets on this one. I may be wrong but I think it's 2 times the depth. Doesn't make sense at all. That would mean your anchor rope on Ontario would have to be 1400 ft? They also patrol all the boat launches looking for out of date stickers on the trailers. Like I said, they look for anything.

Make sure you also have a signaling device like a whistle and lights if you out past dark.

I didn't even know an anchor rope was required??? Is the Inspection sticker for the trailer suppose to be attached on the trailer itself (I keep mine in the truck).
Is there a posting of all these obscure laws somewhere? I knew about the whistle,Fire Extinguisher & Life Jackets
