if i were to get a 223 and had the option of rate of twist, would 1:7 or 1:9 be best. i know that above about 68 grains that a 1:7 is needed but is there a negative effect if i used a 40 grain with 1:7?

I know my AR has a 1:9 and I have never noticed a difference in any loads I put through it.

Is the barrel length the same on both rifles?

this is a theoretical rifle at this point so we will say both barrels are 22 inchesin a bolt gun. my ar has a 16 in heavy with 1:9. wont do the heavy bullets at extended ranges. start to wobble. likes 55 grain wolf though strangly enough.
