This weekend I took out the old smoke pole to make sure it was still on the money. After getting out all my "tools" to load her up I commenced to loading. I armed it with a cap pulled the sidehammer back and just a small POP. I reloaded another cap and retried, same results. I then primed the nipple and tried again. Another POP. I then took out my ball puller and tried to pull out the ball, which would not come out. My old gun has a wooden ram rod and as I was trying to get the ball puller started it broke. I got so mad at this poor unfortunate gun, that I gave it the old death toss in the truck and headed to town for a new gun. I am now the proud owner of a tradtions pursuit. A nice gun with a removable breech plug and, 209 primer ignition. Also a much more accuarte gun. That was one of the most expensive shooting sessions I've had in a while! ;D

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Those bullet pullers can be a real pain to start. Have fun with your new gun!

Last year I had the same thing happen but I was lined up on a big doe at 10 yards while on the ground (cold day and walked up on then bedded down). Misfired 3 times at the deer then I tried a few more times when I home. The powder got damp the day before and pulled away from the nipple. I added some real fine powder at the nipple at boom. I learned my lesson, wont do that again.
