Raising pheasants, have had many trouble and have caught successfully over the years however this year I can’t seem to get it. I have traps all over and see no entrance exit points. I suspect he may be living in the pen where I just move the older birds. I have turned the very few rocks that are left, checked anywhere I can think still no luck. This is been going on for over a week with killing every night. My only guess is that he’s climbing up the pole and through pheasant netting or actually living in the pen. I have numerous foot holds, box traps etc. set in nothing. Any suggestions? Causing major damage

What do think is the killer. Parts eatin or bite marks on birds are birds removed to other locations. How old are the phasants.

My suggestion would be a couple of weasel boxes with the large, yellow pan Victor rat traps in case it's not a mink...

Well, my two cents - RATS. Poultry areas are huge attractors for them, and many years ago a neighbor was having a serious problem with goslings being killed, heads missing, I told him it was rats and he only laughed. So I offered to take on the problem by trapping, the only payment would be an apology from him (for ridiculing me throughout the neighborhood for my "idiotic opinion" lol) if it was rats, or an admission of my stupidity if it was fox, mink or weasel as he suspected... 3 days and 8 rats later, and he reneged - I never got an apology lol! No fox, mink, weasels or anything else but rats, and the problem never returned. Just a thought. They can live inside or under the pens, they don't leave much of a trail at all, but they're great at killing fowl, especially the young but no birds are safe.
