I know enough about people and deer that if two run by and one is a spike and one is a giant, everyone shoots the giant! LOL
I don't deer hunt much...just my own place. I killed a "giant" a couple years ago......on my own place. 145 was the score.....
Blind luck.....I had 5 seconds of history with that buck. Only took pics of him hanging in barn......
My friends that are whacko's got pissed....they've hunted their whole lives and never got one that big. I assume I will never beat that deer.....but must admit, once you hold one, I can see how people can get hooked.
That said, I hate deer, deer hunters, leases, etc AS IT RELATES TO MY TRAPPING.......which means more to me than shooting a deer with blind luck out back. There is ZERO luck involved in big catches of ANY furbearer.....and I'd never disparage any guy for hanging a pile of fur and snapping a photo or two......FAR more went into that catch than my five-second history with that "giant"....
That said, I think Austin should share his passion and successes.....show us the pics of the multiple "giants" he's killed over all these decades of passion. I think it'd be cool to see them all.....we've certainly seen his fur catch pics so I am sure there's a ton of giant whitetail pics floating around as well.
I only have one "giant" so that's pretty boring.....and only reason I got him was blind luck....OH, and I own the land and pay taxes on it where he died!
Also, you must have decades of history with certain different deer, years of picking up their sheds, trail cam pics galore....would be cool to see some of those giant Finger Lakes deer on the hoof before you killed them. I bet you even named some of them...I had one on my place last year I named "Curly" but I haven't seen him since last fall.
IF I became one of those whitetail whackos, like Austin, I'd be THAT guy...naming deer, years of sheds, dozens of stands for any wind, food plots, taking vacation first two-weeks of November, etc. But I am still mad at coyotes, as Gina says, for now.....
