Ok, so the last thread where we were engaging in nysta talk took a dive with testoterone antics. Hopefully this one stays on point.
Al, you say you were pleased with things that were discussed and you felt things were going in a positive direction. I think fixing/changing the website is a good start. What else? Even with no transparency it wasn't difficult to see there was dissention within. People, good people, stepped aside. Are there good people in there now? When is the last time there was an election? I have received no ballots...or have they been appointments? Are those appointed active? Do regional reps report? Talk and coomunicate with affiliates? Tell me something that indicates change. Everything starts at the top...are we running this group such that sins of the past shall be avoided? Is there any member of the board that can answer me? Why is Al the only one we hear from? Can you say that everyone in the organization is active and doing what is best for trappers of NY?
So much that needs to be answered for me to feel warm and fuzzy about the current "staff".

I will say other than vacations and surgeries all board members are at the meetings. I as treasurer have stated and it was stated again because of forum talk about how our monies are handled. There is a finance committee now, the president gets the bank statement before the treasurer sees it and looks it over. At the convention monies are counted at the end of each day by 3 people receipt signed off by the 3 people and money put into fair safe. No money is not in the safe. We have no credit card. Convention income that is on chairman's report by line item is deposited the same way by line item so everything is totally black & white and matches. We have no account passwords since no online banking is done, it is all done at the branch and use the same teller. If a grouped check deposit is made, the checks are all copied onto a sheet with the amount and date so that any check asked about can be referenced back to. The monies part of NYSTA cannot be any safer and members at the meeting seem to be completely satisfied with the current way things are done.
I did make a remark in the last thread about Al's mention of getting the meeting minutes out there. When we get the website straightened out I had said that along with Trappers Post insert that we should mention the highlights of the meeting on the new website.
And again I would like to thank Al for the positive remarks he made about the meeting.

Milkie, I learned at the meeting the problems of getting bonded. I certainly meant nothing against you. I simply don't want to repeat the mistakes of the past. I did hear a lengthy explaination of protecting cash which I will not discuss here. Also my interest is because I am the Treasurer of my Shriners organization and I'm concerned not only for the protection of the organization as well as myself.
