First, let me say, again, that there are no secrets within NYSTA. When reporting what transpired at a Director's Meeting we must realize that this website is read by every anti in the world. In my opinion social media is the downfall of the world; sites like Facebook and Twitter. I can report that I was pleased to hear the Executive Director's report (lobbyist). I'm not going into the details, but it appears that Dave is on top of things and rapidly learning the ins and outs of Albany.
Regarding the leaving of some persons and officers, it is my belief that personality conflicts came into play. Enough about that.
As for membership, what Bob has said is correct, it is slowly increasing since when he took over, but not as high as in the past. The thief treasurer did an awful hit in that regard, and the currant fur prices don't help.
What I have to say is that NYSTA may not be perfect, but todate it has kept the wolf away from the door. In a state as liberal as New York we have to live by our wits. Many join just for the Trapper's Post, not even considering the lobbyist we employ. "What's in it for me?" A membership is a pretty cheap price to pay to help preserve our right to trap.
There are some on here that contribute nothing, just want to stir the pot. At the meeting that really hit home to me. NYSTA has been a huge part of my life since the early sixties, including a tremendous amount of stress. Every President goes through it. Fortunately, after years of stress for me in NYSTA I was able to over come it,with help, and I think the organization is much better off for it.So I have decided not to be a part of the bashing. Negativity produces nothing.
Yes, I learned details of various matters at the meeting, but the truth is, that there is a time and place for everything, and a pre mature public announcement regarding certain matters would damage the organization.
How many well known trappers contribute absolutely nothing? I'll name no names.
