Was introduced to state assembly on 11-25-19. Link here... nyassembly.gov/leg/?default_fld=<br />&leg_video=&bn=AB8733&term=2019&Summary=Y&Actions=Y&Committee Votes=Y&Floor Votes=Y&Memo=Y&Text=Y This bill would outlaw leg hold traps... I have heard nothing about this from NYSTA via facebook, website, this site, or email. I have however seen PA trappers talking about it at various sites and posting addresses to write in opposition. What say NYSTA...how do you suggest members react to this bill?

This is very concerning. Was this only brought to the state assembly? Or should we also write to our state senator? It really bugs me that this Linda Rosenthal and other representatives from NYC keep proposing these anti-trapping and fur bills. What's their experience with furbearing mammals and trapping? I know, their experience is zero and this is all political, but the whole concept drives me nuts.

State website shows it was turned over to the DEC for review. Not sure what that means, but if the normal time frame is to be expected i'm not worried. Also, there were no cosponsors listed

To all that are concerned,
NYSTA is aware and watching closely. Proper personal were alerted the minute that I saw this came in my email. If this needs greater attention, NYSTA will notify its members to address it. As of right now, there is not a co sponser as state before, but with that in mind, we will be keeping a very watchful eye on this.
Thank You
