Hey guys need some advice. I bought half a dozem belisle 220s, tried to dip them in rustoleum primer/acetone as a 50/50 mix. They came out with lots of drips from drying which probably isnt so awful but the dog/trigger action very stiff due to the paint job. Seems like the paint on the bars is slowing down the trigger from rolling over smoothly. Stripped 3 of the 6 back to bare metal, and wanted to try something else instead. I saw some guys just spraypaint them, some like the dip but i must have made the mix too thick i am guessing. If the paint screws up the trigger then maybe i will go with the logwood dye.
What do you guys recommend? Do you paint but cover up the dog and trigger and then touch them up by hand maybe to keep paint from gumming up? That seems to make sense maybe?

Hit the dogs and triggers with parts cleaner maybe may be a bad idea but I just dye and a little wax but keep wax off triggers and dogs

If I have only 6 to do I am degreasing them completely then spraying black or dark green with rustoleum.

I use 2 parts acetone to 1 part paint. yea, that's what most use, since it's better to be too thin than too thick, PLUS it thickens some during use from evaporation of the acetone. Better to dip twice in a thin dip rather than once in thick dip. If you try paint again, try this way.

Flat black spray paint from Dollar general it's a buck a can, hang them one at a time spray good then hang outside to dry and air out, set em!!!! When you pull them clean em up and paint them again I can do half dozen 160s with one can.

I use spray paint also, no drips, lasts through the year, sometimes longer, easy and quick to do.
