I have yet to catch a fox this year, which is amazing. The only thing that I can think of is that I might have burnt the wax. I know that I am suppose to start from the beginning. Since they are in the ground already, is there anything I can do to them now, to cover the smell of the wax.

Are they digging at you're traps or,or are they just not showing interest in your sets? Need a little more info.....

Burnt wax shouldn't be an issue. Mine flamed up this year and didn't cause any issues. Have you caught them before? Are you on location and know they are there?

I doubt that burned wax is your issue. Most people over think the smell that is left behind at a set. Canines are used to humans and our weird smells. Unless they are digging your traps out, I would concentrate on other factors. Locations, trap bedding/stability, and locations. You can catch a Canine with a glob of peanut butter. and a rusty trap if the set is in the right spot.

Try using peat moss and make a mess with it...make sure dust gets everywhere. So if they get to the lure they are inside the "disturbed/peat area". A 6 inch square spot is tougher to pick out in a 3 foot square spot.
Good luck!
