Congratulations on the tag and one toad of an otter. Thank you sir...Pulled the plug today on the land line with the impending blizzard on the way..FInished with a total of 222 canines if my count is right..A terrific run. Very proud of that for a two month run.

cool...do you pleat the red fox tails? They look short and wide, like when one does that with Mink and Coon tails......
Nice run, regardless!

I won't take the time on a tail. Each tail gets only 3 pins and I do buch it up toward the a$$ end just to shorten the pelt a bit for shipping purposes. It was a great run for me here. Most of The beavs and coyotes came from a vacation run to Vermont.

gotta say, never seen anyone do that....but the tails DO take up space for shipping for sure......interesting.

That red yote on the far right is beautiful. Great season. I kept him for a change... He's going to tubari for tanning. I know they're worth less than a regular coyote so I figured I'll let the kids hang him in their room

May be the wrong thread and if so I'd be happy to pit in right one if I can find it....but do you have any pelt damage with snares? Really just curious....sounds and looks like you had a great season thanks for sharing

May be the wrong thread and if so I'd be happy to pit in right one if I can find it....but do you have any pelt damage with snares? Really just curious....sounds and looks like you had a great season thanks for sharing A lot of variables there.. A neck snared canine won't have any pelt damage whatsoever... If you set the deer stop too far from the lock and the animal can move or turn inside the closed loop it is possible similar to where a canine can move his foot inside a fired trap.... Same principle but with a functioning snare there won't be any damage. Coon will show a light snare mark in leather which can grade slight depending on the degree of the mark in the leather like a beaver. Where you will see slights in a fox are when the fox jumps the loop and where he's hip snared. They are very delicate the further back u go and if on the hips there will appear to be a break in the flow of the fur. Where they will also get weak is when they're in cover.. It's not the snare doing damage in those cases but he'll beat himself up a bit in the cover if it's thorny or full of hitchhiker so. This is the best example I have a pic of where a #1 graded slight due to a cable mark breaking the "flow" of the fur from last season.. If u look close you'll notice the mark above the hip.

Good luck . I give up sending emails to any elected leaders ,Imo you would be better off working on the CC who are intertwined with the dog runners. The DEC allready has a cable plan in place ready to go.I did send in 2 cable released redfox videos with my fisher response, at least I knew for once someone was going to read it !! .
