It's time for a new pair of boots and I need advice regarding brand. The problem I've ALWAYS had with every type of pac-type boots is that they crack across the top and along the sides of the foot from flexing. I kneel and/or squat down, A LOT, while working (no comments, please) and especially when trapping and the boots get a heck of a workout. I have NEVER had a pair last a full 12-months, other than the Iceman, I'd say none really ever made it past 7 months without cracking. Maybe the longest wearing ones I ever had were Hodgman's "Iceman" from back in the 80's and they actually lasted about 2 years but they were a double layer, so even though they cracked, too, I still had the waterproof for a long time after. The WORST were Itasca, any kind, EVERY pair I owned - one pair didn't last a month but fortunately the company let me take them back to Herb Philipson's, but then that pair didn't last another 3 months. I've had at least 4 pair of Itasca's and I'll never own another pair, they do not hold up at all. I've had a lot of Sorrel's over the years but I need waterproof/rubber, not leather uppers/rubber bottoms. The last pair I got were the Lacrosse Burly camo, got them last fall but they were cracking by the end of January and started leaking by mid-February. They're still okay, but I can't wear them around water because they leak where they're cracked.
So, I've been wanting to give Muck boots a try but - honestly, I don't care what brand as long as the boots will be serviceable for at least a full season for once, lol!!
OK, that's it, and thanks in advance. - Tim

Muck! Buy the Woody Max model and you'll never own anything else! I bought my first pair almost 3 years ago now, and am just looking to replace them. They have a few cracks ,but haven't started leaking yet! I wear them roughly 120 days a year trapping, fishing and coon hunting. They take a beating, especially when I'm chasing the hound! Briers, thorns, rocks, sticks, what ever I've thrown at them, they have survived and kept my feet dry! They are also very comfortable. I tuck my pants into the top of my boots and have several times slipped into water deeper that the boot is tall, and they seem to seal at the top and still keep the water out. As long as you get it out quickly. I love them!
I saw some posts about how Muck had supported the Humane Society, but it turned out to be BS.

I own Mucks, forget which one (they are insulated)...but I love them. Had the one pair now for 4 years and I wear them trapping, cutting and putting up firewood, hunting, just about every day during the winter months. First pair of thie type of boot I've owned that fit me comfortably, actually enjoy wearing them. No cracking yet but I've put holes in them being careless, they keep on ticking. Were recommended to me by a local rancher/farmer, and I see all the farmers wearing them. That will tell you something.

For $40/pr I buy the Baffin ones from sportsman's guide. Felt liners. I'm on my third hunting season with em. The liners wore out before the boot.

i bought a pair of mucks last year end of october theyve held up great, my only complaint is the inside back of the heal has worn out, now my socks seem to slide down constantly unless there really tight socks.
IF the story about supporting the humane society is a BS lie, then id probably buy another pair if i had to...i havnt read up on that story so i wont say either way on it but only IF its a lie would i buy them.

LL Bean and Cabelas have life time warrenty. Cabela's warrenty is only on Cabelas brand. I have used it several times and had no issues.

newfox, how are the insulated for sub-zero temps? There are times when I have to stand for long periods and the cold really creeps into the boots, so - just wondering. Thanks. Never heard of these before but from what I'm reading they look like MAYBE they'll be on the list.

Dear Friend, For years Ive put up with cold feet in the winter, being to cheap to spend the money on another pair of boots. Last year mamabear felt sorry for me ( actually something to the affect of me constantly whining about cold feet). Anyway she had a talk with ole Santee Claus and sure enough, under the Christmas tree was a brand spanking new pair of camo colored MUCK " Artic Pro's". These boots fit like a glove and are warm and very comfortable. I whine no more about cold feet. Regards

WOW... I don't know why I had this erroneous vision of boots being any different than other businesses but >POOF!!!< that's been eliminated once and for all. SO, I bought a pair of Muck Boots, the Brushland series at the Runnings in Rome grand opening about a month ago. What sold me was: Reputation, friend recommendations, the price this time ($99.99 including tax), the claim on the label that they had "Airwick" technology to keep feet dry from ALL sweat and condensation, and a comfort rating from MINUS, yes NEGATIVE, 20*F to 70*F... BOUGHT 'EM!!! HATE 'EM....Even when other boots leaked, my feet have never been so wet, every time, even if just doing chores and NOWHERE near water, snow or rain. And at 20*F, ABOVE ZERO, my feet freeze! Just this morning walking out to get the paper about 300' from the house, at 14*F the tops of my feet were ice cold before I got to the mailbox. So I came back inside, grabbed the old box, and sure enough: MADE IN CHINA. I got my receipt but decided first to call Muck Boot Company and - GAAAAHHH!!!! Owned by Honeywell, which also owns XtraTuf and Puddletons and all are made in China, and ALL have received similar reviews since moving the manufacturing of ALL 3 LINES to that factory!!! So, customer service at Muck told me that there's a 1-year warranty, take the boots back to Runnings, if I don't get a full refund call a "special number" and they'll tell me what to do after that. I am struck by its similarity to, "If you want to know what's in the bill first you have to pass it." I am fed up with crap quality. I know, I know, Muck is - was? - a legend in footwear, but so was Xtratuf. And a lot of others. And I also know that there are a lot of pleased customers. I am not part of that group. So today I get to take these bots back. I just don't know that I trust any of them anymore. On the good side, these boots seem to be very well constructed with high grade materials, and the traction is supreme. I wish they were warm and didn't act like a foot sauna. As for the Xtratuf, I misspoke when I said I'd never heard of them. At my Dad's funeral, my brother who I used to trap and hunt with when we were younger reminded me that the boots we each bought a pair of with our trapping money from the old Nichols chain when we were teenagers were Xtratufs. Those boots made us feel like mountain goats, and even after we outgrew them they were still in great shape and they really too a beating from us. Unfortunately, by the time we talked, I'd already made this purchase but I think I'll give the Xtratufs another shot, I'm just really gun shy about anything from the Honeywell-China syndicate at this point. I know, I'm whining. Tuf Muck.

I'm not crazy about the fact that they are made in china but got them last year for Christmas so far so good.when its not freezing I wear the non-insulated ,wear them to the barn alot very happy with them, but when its cold I use the insulated ones.
