I've been trapping quite awhile, but I've never bothered with pan tension. I'm getting more serious about fox and yotes, and pan tension seems to be important. Would someone take the time to go through the steps on how to do it? How much tension? Do i need to get one of those gauges? Thanks, Mike

Good questions Mike. I, too, am just starting to get serious about k-9's and would like to know about this.

I like 2.5-3.5lbs. For targeting both animals a little more if yotes only. I use the wife's kitchen scale to get the weight right, set the trap flip up the loose jaw and watch the scale when you push down the pan . Not enough tighten the bolt a little to much loosen it some. After you do a few you can tell just by the feel. If you have something like a mb650 with both jaws held down just use a stick to push the pan. Hope this helps and good luck.
