hi, i'm new to trapping like this will be my first season. my question is can you dye fox hollow super stakes? i read something that said if dye them the can break when under pressure. anything thoughts or help would be appreciated.

well they are cast heating could reduce harden not really sure but see the dye causing a problem just the heat from boiling

Nothing in the dyeing process will hurt the stake. But no need to dye your stakes.

My guess as to what you are hearing is that they cleaned the traps with cables attached in a lye based cleaner.
The lye will eat into the aluminum crimps on the cable and cause them to fail
No need to dye stakes...underground and can't be seen

just figured i would put the whole trap and set up in a once that is all. You can do it if you choose...dying everything won't hurt Just don't clean everything in a lye based solution or the crimps will fail

and NEVER wax bullet stakes...you'd think it would help lubricate them and let them slide off the driver tip easier...it doesn't...and it actually works the opposite way, and will bind you up, with stakes sticking to the driver head and pulling up and out when you pull the driver after pounding...
Few things irritate me more than stakes sticking to driver tips!
