Got my first wood duck yesterday with the goshawk! This is the 2nd duck for this bird so far this year! He took a drake mallard last week as well.

Fur and Feather are both fair game for them, which is perfect for my area... Only issue with goshawks is they have some severe temper tantrums at times. Even when they are at their flying weight. I chased him for 2 hours a few days ago with the telemetry because he missed a slip on a cottontail and kept on going. I wish I had the area to hunt a falcon, but most of my duck and pheasant spots are not open enough for them to catch game reliably, which for me is a deal breaker.

Same here, just not the terrain for a falcon here. Bunnies and bushytails here, redtail country. But plenty of pothole ducks and pheasant, so a Gos is on my wish list down the road. My sponsor has a Harris but with the weather/cold/deep snows we get here he ain't out much these days with that guy.....

I flew a tiercel Harris' for a few years. He did great, providing the temperatures were warm. When it got cold, he would sit in a tree with his foot up waiting for me to call him down. Goshawks are great if yo u can deal with the many short training sessions, and the terrible two type of mentality. I want to try an eyass female gos in the spring, but I may hang on to this guy too since he is catching game consistently.

haha trappermac. He was in a mood that day so I half expected a rake of my head. Luckily his aggression turned toward game.
