I'm a big victor guy, I really like them, I take a beating on here for it too... But, I do not like these traps... They have thin jaws, which causes the obvious. I don't like the pan, it's hard to adjust the pan, as you can't see how much further you have to go before it fires.. They have a lot of power for a little trap, too much in my opinion... Id buy victor #2 off sets... They are cheaper and they work alot nicer.... I bought 4 dozen Bridger #2 off sets this year, as they are a much beefier trap.. After using them, I think I still like the victor 2 better, it's just a great all purpose trap for the price....

I agree with you but I like welding and modifying so mine are laminated with PIT rod dogs and a real baseplate welded on, better chain and real swivels. So now that I think about it, they probobly aren't worth it. Lol.

I catch coyotes regularly in 1.75 and #2 bridger offsets without any problems other than bent dogs occasionally.just thinking the 1.75's would be a little easier on the fox

thanks for the info I didn't know if the #2 would hold the coyotes. He's not referring to the old Victor #2's with the square jaws. He probably means the #2FOJ traps.

If coyote catches are a possibility, I don't use any of my old style #2's, whether Victor, B&L, or Oneida, coil spring or jump or whatever. I love(d) them as fox traps, and still use them where coyotes are a very, very low probability. The old chains are OK for fox but ridiculous for coyotes. I'm still in the process of replacing the old chains to #2 machine or twist, those that have the tiny swivels at the trap get replaced with either a cold shut or a quick link on the (weak) frame, those with a large enough swivel hole get a crunch proof but none of them will be seeing action with coyotes as long as I own them. I'd like to sell them but -- maybe to a collector, lol! They do work great for drowner sets but my access to water trapping grounds is now very limited and VERY shallow, just feeder creeks and one pond on my properties. As old as they are, I don't see the point in beefing them up, either. I just buy a few more good traps each year and keep looking for good uses for the old ones.

Bridgers are a good trap
Just remember..most of our fur is sold to China
Without the Aisian market, your fur would be worthless

I have Vic's,duke, sleepy creek and use every last one but I keep buying bridger the 1.75 is an excellent trap for fox but will hold coyotes fine with no mods, but I really like my #2's.i like to buy American when I can also but the bridgers are too good a trap for the money for me to pass on

i have a buddy that swears by the 1 3/4 4x4 vics but hes slowly switching to mb 550s and says they are a great trap...i prefer the num 2 bridger offset and i did 4 coil some this year but they work great as a stock 2 coil and have never had any problems with yotes..fox no problem..the chain is also good on them but i do add more and better swivels and use the bridger ones for my conibears..i really dont like the j hooks they use and wouldnt want to chance it with a big dog..also plan on welding on base plates but the stock ones work fine
