Looking to see how you guys are doing around western New York. Also wondering if there's anyone around Chautauqua county?

I'm in Allegany county and this is the first time trapping in about 20 years. Picked up 10 coon and 1 red fox so far. Dealing with bowhunters and trap thieves, but hoping to get some good sets in this week in an area I bowhunt so I can keep an eye on things while on vacation.

Yeah Joe sounds like you know either me or josh or you have seen us out there climbing outa the ditches. We enjoy it but it's not easy this year a lot of farms we have trapped before have people trapping them this year.

the season has started off slowfor meny in the finger lakes area.i doint know what is happing but it not getting any better as the weather got colder. any body got a answer/? Even though the temps are dropping they realy arnt burning up any energy looking for food yet still pretty easy pickins for them, flat sets are about all that im having luck with, very little action at the dirt holes except skunk and grinners,But even at the flat sets action is still very slow,I truely think it will start picking up just about time all the orange invades the woods, maybe if a guy can hide his catches he will do OK,but untill things start picking up I suppose Im going to trap best of luck Oldtimer

That's making more sense now that you say this. Our culverts are picking up the local coons. Meaning… they aren't moving far from home to feed. Even a corn field we normally pick up 12 or so in on and off throughout the first few weeks only gave us 4. That's the part that throws me off. Granted there's a lot of apples and the streams are full. But hey I can't complain at least I'm able to be out there.

I managed to get 9 coon the past two weeks. Been working 60 plus hours so trapping takes a back seat till the weekend. This weekend I relocated all my traps(one mud puddle to another) and set a few more also did some scouting at a few more areas with lots of sign of critters. Good luck to all from the 2nd best place in NY (CATT.CO) The ADIRONDACKS being #1
