Member of New Hampshire Trappers Association.
I have some of Austins bait but made one myself and tested it out and the greys dug it all out of the ground. 8 oz peanut butter 1 can sardines with oil 4 oz honey 4 oz molasses 8 oz crushed dog food Enough oats to make thicker 3 or 4 drops of night owls anise oil Just a bit of glycerin oil to make a paste I was going to use it for coons initially and now for greys too!

Dear Friend, here's a couple........1/2 strawberry jam, half honey, add enough anise so you can just detect its odor.............marshmallows make great visual enticers...........jack mackerel, salmon, clams, pureed in a food processor, add an ounce of shellfish oil per quart............grind the walnuts, almonds, add enough honey to make a paste, add a few drops of anise and or cherry oil. Regards

You guys really like to make things complicated. Pretty hard to beat Jack Mac and a little shellfish oil.

I used to prebait with day old donuts. After a week of that every coon in the area knew where that cubby was. Cant find them anymore everyone gets them for feeding hogs or the dumpsters are locked up...

What happens is the same thing happens when sweet corn is discovered. Every raccoon in the area will find it. When that first coon hits that pre bait, the sugar is all over his hands and face. Now your "secret" spot is not so secret anymore. The sugar and jelly wins for coon food, I know I took 100 raccoon of one farm two years in a row. That farm sits in the shadow of Syracuse NY. Metropolis is litterally minutes away .... Zagger traps it now , he knows where it is, we know what he traps so I know its safe.
Right now I'm using dead crayfish mixed with bacon grease and canned dog food as a filler. I keep it in a tight container. I'm catching everything on it. Wish I kept more of those crayfish froze....
